Favorite Running or Racing Experience:

Finishing up SOB. Firstly, I never thought id finish it. Secondly, the community that rallied to help me get through the mile 30 block was incredible and showed me just how loving and supportive the ultra-running community can be. Lastly, I wanted to cry from mile 45-50. However, when I got to 50 I remember collapsing of pure exhaustion and pain. Then I saw some friends from Woodlands and they came up to me with hugs and cheerful words of encouragement... I was still bawling like a baby.

Favorite Place to Run:

I love a good ol’ Roxy Ann or Sterling Mine Ditch Trail. However, I often just make up a route beforehand and see how big of a loop I can make. Loops are my best friend.

Favorite post-run eats/drinks:

I feel like some people will say beer. Since most races will have free beer for 21+ at the end of the race. Me? That just sounds soooo heavy. You'll catch me drinking some ice-cold lemonade and eating a burrito. Or whatever granola bar I left in my car, I'm not picky.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not running?

I'm normally rock climbing! That was my passion before running and it still is. However, I'm a big backpacker as well. I love anything that gets you outside and in the flow of things. People talk about runners high and I feel the same if I'm climbing up a 200ft route or if I'm backpacking deep into the wilderness. The peace and serenity that comes when you become hyperfocused on a single task at hand is beautiful.

You can only have one song on your running playlist.  What is it?

Grateful by NEFFEX. Wanna talk about a pump-up jam? That's the ONE.

Dream race or running adventure:

MOAB 240. Sounds like a masochist’s dream.

Current running kicks?

I'm rocking The Asics GEL-Cumulus 22 Road-Runners currently. However, my all-time favorite is the Nike Terra Kigers. Those things look incredible and they've been with me on most of my long runs.

What does the Woodlands Endurance Team mean to you?

It's community. People keep asking if since I'm on a team do we have a training regiment/schedule like it's a high school cross country squad. However, I think of it as more of an ambassador. I talk Woodlands up to all my new running friends because it doesn't matter if you run 1 mile at 20 min/mi or you run 50 at 10 min/mi. They don't care. All that matters is you make it to the start line or that group run and they'll support you till you hit the finish line and even if you don't. I'm never gonna be the BEST. I don't dedicate enough training to do so and that doesn't align with my goals. I just want to push my body as much as I can while still enjoying the process of running. So you may not always see me in the top 10, but you'll see me, and I'll be smiling the whole time.

Your 2021 Race Calendar (What/when/where are you planning to run or race?):

Currently, I just have the Mount Ashland Hill Climb. I love races, but I'm waiting for COVID to clear up before I jump on the train and sign up for a bunch of them. Ideally, I'll do a 100 miler before the end of the year! That's the dream.

Anything else we should know about you?

My social security number is: Just kidding. I think I've rambled enough! Thanks for this opportunity.
